Loch Shiel Expedition
Loch Shiel Expedition - 3 days SUP / 2 nights Wild Camp
June 1-3rd 2019
Duration: 3 days / 2 Nights (Wild Camp & Local Inn)
Sleeping: Wild Camp
Activities: Stand up paddle boarding, wild camping, campfires, wild swim
We’ll be paddling down Loch Shiel experiencing all her beauty. Loch Shiel is a haven for wild life – Black throated divers, deer and majestic golden eagles can all be seen here and the River Shiel is home to otters. Starting at Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie once raised the Jacobite standard in 1745 and the home of the Glenfinnan Viaduct from Harry Potter films fame. We paddle the Loch's approx 20km in length and runs roughly north-south in direction which has been relatively unchanged since it was carved out by glaciers 10,000 years ago. We’ll stop for breaks, fish and wild swims. There are also small secluded tributaries which give an opportunity to explore away from the main Loch.
